In accordance with General Assembly resolution 78/158, the President of the General Assembly (PGA) is convening a high-level meeting on 10 July 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The event is organized within the context of the International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms, which is observed annually on 12 July in accordance with General Assembly resolution 77/294 and is organized with the support of the United Nations Coalition on Combating Sand and Dust Storms.The high-level meeting is organized under the theme “Sand and Dust Storms: Working Across Agendas for Resilience and Sustainability”, which is the theme of the 2025 International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms adopted by the United Nations Coalition for Combating Sand and Dust Storms.The programme of the high-level meeting will consist of an opening segment with statements delivered by the President of the General Assembly and the Executive Secretaries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) as co-chairs for the Coalition for the period 2025-2026.
